My name is Cherie Fitzgerald and I am currently a senior at the University of Hartford. After changing my major three times, I decided to become a Communications major with an emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising and have found a passion for it. I have always been creative and I love being able to express that in projects and aspire to continue this as a public relations and advertising specialist.
Throughout my experience at University of Hartford I have worked on both advertising and public relations campaign projects. The most prominent advertising campaign project was for the app Tinder. My group and I created a humorous approach to advertise the app. I have also worked on other numerous group advertising projects for various products and services such as Heinz’s Mayochup, travel expeditions, and a local ice cream shop.

While working on these projects, I was able to portray my creativity along with each unique company vision. I found many different ways to approach advertising techniques, and how to use them to expand and transform a broad idea from a company while targeting the correct demographic.
Outside of school, I have been an intern for Travelers Insurance for the past 2 years. During this opportunity, I have learned about and how to work with different computer applications, such as PeopleSoft. I have been able to utilize my education in a professional environment, as well as apply my critical thinking and problem-solving skills in real-life scenarios.
Before my time at Travelers, I had a work study at the University of Hartford reference desk, where I assisted students with research sources and tech support. While working this job, I developed strong communication and customer service abilities. Although customer service jobs do not have the best reputation, I genuinely found it enjoyable and loved helping a community of students that I also belong to.
